That's already happened in some parts of the world and not far off happening in the rest.

.....gg gw community if this were to happen...we all take it for granted but as a whole its a very good one. My 14 yr old bro is a member of the x-box live village..its a dark..scary place. Ill put it this way, you will find yourself craving the old moronic conversation's about religion, politics, whos mom is biggest skank.etc.. The grueling mental test that is basic pc operation alone is enough to filter out 50% of those who are on xbox live...really.

I think you are being a bit to sterotypical there, maybe the problem your brother faces on Xbox live is the fact he's 14 and plays with people who are also that age?

Guess what there are also people like that in GWs infact 99% of online communaties have people like that. I play Xbox live and i've never had any problems with younger people throwing insults around, maybe it's because 99% of my friends are over 25 and know how to behave? On there's this lovely mute freature it if does happen.

on the flip side,

you have FF11
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Final_Fantasy_11
a mmorpg that has supported both PC and Console players for the last 5 years
(since 2002)

I understand that but the thing is what if people have no interest in all those extra features? Also you know that the Ps2 plays DVDs? And the 360 will play DVDs and MP3s as well? (It will also play HD-DVD if you buy the add on)

The only new thing the Ps3 really does it BluRay and personally i'm not ready to change my media format from DVD to BluRay just yet, and i'm not the only one. I mean what if BluRay doesn't take off?

I know it's still pretty much unheard of here in the Uk, and not many places stock media on BluRay so getting a Ps3 to act as a player is pointless.
I see blu-ray all over here. It is advertised on TV, in the stores, etc. I also realize that the PS2 does that, I own one. It also plays music CDs. The PS3 does not have the issue of needing an add on. There is also a lot more to the PS3, stats I just do not have at my fingertips.

What I want to know, and this is to the guy who said the PS3 is a terrible platform...I have read nothing but good reviews of it. Why do you think it is a terrible one?

Like I said it's still pretty much unheard of in the UK, infact I don't even think i've seen a standalone BluRay player for sale, and according to my friend Europe is favouring HD-DVD.

Blu-Ray support was crumbling last time I checked, I thought Warner dropped Blu-Ray and already there are HD-DVDs coming out of movies that are not coming to Blu-Ray. One example is Transformers.

Blue Ray has been gaining in sales - not decreasing

Blu-ray outsells HD DVD 2:1
http://www.ps3fanboy.com/2007/08/16/...blu-ray-movie/
Quote:
New data from Home Media Research shows that Blu-ray is gaining significant momentum, selling twice as many discs in the first half of this year than HD DVD. Sales of Blu-ray disc movies totaled 1.6 million units, compared with 795,000 HD DVD discs.
that said,
I dont care about Blue Ray
I dont care WHICH Console

but I would love to see ANET do a game for a console

Well according to the interview Ninna provided us, the two aren't mutually exclusive. Apparently due to the low amount of effort required to port GW, the opportunity cost argument is pretty flawed.

As for blu-ray, we'll just end up with cheap dual players. Customers won't give a crap what disc they are buying, as long as it's high def. Just like +/- DVDs. After that happens I imagine blu-ray will see more use due to the high capacity, but that's total speculation. Not that I get what this has to do with the topic.

I don't see how it's a low amount of effort to port GW, it's made for the PC and is built around the mouse and keyboard and relies on them, too.

If it was difficult to port it wouldn't be because of I/O. It would be because of the completely different system architectures. But the interview with Jeff (which you are free to read) says it isn't.

I can't imagine they would build a port around that. It should be built around the SIXAXIS because hardly anyone uses a keyboard or mouse with PS3.

I bet many people playing FF11 (mmorpg) on PS2/3 and XBOX360 are using mouse/keyboard

Everquest Online Adventures is another mmorpg for PS2
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/EverQue...ine_Adventures
Input: Gamepad, keyboard (optional)

all this aside,
Jeff Strain has stated that GW is not difficult to export to console (if you read the interview)

i was pretty happy when i heard this, altho when i heard PS3 Exclusive i was annoyed, because Guildwars is sub free, and a great game, but only on a €500 console, seems a bit unfair, i could see a Wii post with buttons on the screen, jsut clik the button on the screen ot open friend list or click on a skill to us it, point a d click for travel, or a wireless keyboard and mouse.

HopeFully if anet make a port it would fully be able to use on pc.

Well, either way, I'm tired of stupid Playstation fans that want all kinds of games on their PS3 that they don't really care about anyway just because they are so desperate for anything.
